The Dead Shell is a little-known crystal sphere that may have been inhabited by the Juna, an ancient precursor race that preceded most races into wildspace.[1]
Overview[]
The Dead Shell resembles a standard system, except its primary is a black hole several miles in diameter. Because the primary provides no light or heat, the sphere is cold and dark. The only illumination is provided by a few stars, tiny lights scattered across the inside surface of the shell, and a sullenly glowing ring of reddish gas that surrounds the black hole.[2]
Celestial bodies[]
The Dead shell is unusual in that its primary is a black hole. Orbiting the black hole are two enormous planets and an asteroid.[2]
Black hole (primary)[]
The black hole at the center of the Dead Shell is several miles in diameter, but has the mass of a sun several times larger than that of Realmspace. The black hole is surrounded by a ring of gas that glows with a sullen reddish light.[2]
Planet 1[]
The first planet in orbit around the primary of the Dead Shell is a size G spherical earth body. The planet is a voidworld, and is devoid of air, water and life. It is so old that its mountains have collapsed under their own weight, and its surface is flat, featureless, and incredibly cold. The planet is also orbited by rings of ice.[2]
Planet 2[]
The second planet in orbit around the primary of the Dead Shell is a size G spherical earth body. The planet is a voidworld, and is devoid of air, water and life. It is so old that its mountains have collapsed under their own weight, and its surface is flat, featureless, and incredibly cold. The planet is also orbited by rings of ice.[2]
The Outpost[]
The Outpost is a size A asteroid base that may have been built by the Juna.[4]
