A Star chart, or star map, is a map of a planetary system, and is used to indicate the location and relative position of the various celestial bodies in the system, including planets, comets, nebulae etc. It will also indicate certain landmarks on the inner surface of the sphere, such as stars or constellations. Large scale charts often include details such as asteroid clusters or the major moons of a local gas giant.[1] A star chart will not indicate the current position of the planets, which will have to be determined by the navigator, but is useful in determining information such as the mean temperature, hostile forces and spaceborn powers operating in the region.[2]
A star charts' price is determined by how well that system is known by travellers and how often it is visited.
