Nex is a proscribed crystal sphere that is home to the semi-mythical planet Nex. According to legend, Nex is associated with an immensely powerful and ancient race capable of reforming entire planets to suit their needs. Many have gone in search for this sphere, but few have ever returned.[1][2]
Overview[]
Nexspace is a rather unusual crystal sphere. At approximately 100 million miles (160 million kilometres) in diameter, the sphere is remarkably small and can be traversed in around 24 hours.[3] The sphere is also completely dark and frigid, as there are no stars or a visible fire body to provide heat or light.[4] Finally, the primary is an earth body which is unusual since most spheres have suns as primaries.[5]
Location[]
Nex is a distant free floating crystal sphere within the Flow. It has flow connections to Heartspace[6] and Pathspace.[7]
Celestial bodies[]
Nexspace is a geocentric system, with the system primary, an earth body known as Nex, located at the center of the sphere and orbited by one other celestial body. This sets Nexspace apart from the vast majority of Known Spheres, which have fire bodies (suns) as their primaries.[5]
Nex (primary)[]
Nex, meaning "violent death",[8] is the forbidden planet at the center of Nexspace.[2]
The Outer planet[]
The unnamed outer planet of Nexspace is a small, frigid air world cold enough that some of the gases in its atmosphere have frozen solid.[9]
