"Lionheart" is the code name for the headquarters of the Elven Imperial Navy in the Spelljammer campaign setting.[1][2][3]
Overview[]
"Lionheart" is an elven space station that serves as the headquarters for the Imperial Fleet; housing both the Council of Admirals, headed by the Grand Admiral,[4] as well as the Elven Council, which is made up of representatives of all affiliated elven nations.[5]
Description[]
"Lionheart" is one of the largest elven space stations in existence, and resembles an enormous ring of butterflies linked at the wings. The secret base was constructed by linking together a ring of elven armadas, with their bows facing out into wildspace, and allowing their wings to overgrow and meld together, forming a thick protective battlement.[6][2][7] The individual vessels are connected by a series of enchanted walkways, and share a common gravity plane[6] and atmospheric envelope.[8] The office of the Grand Admiral is located in a tower at the very centre of the station, providing the admiral with an unobstructed view across the entire circle of butterfly-shaped vessels.[7] Crops and other foliage is cultivated on the upper decks of the station, providing food for its inhabitants, as well as replenishing the base's air supply.[6]
Lionheart is accompanied by its own fleet of patrol vessels, supply barges and warships, as well as an enormous coin-shaped vessel that houses the Elven Council in a magnificent blue-and-silver chamber vast enough to seat representatives from every elven world in the Known Spheres. However, a general council of the elven people had not been called in living memory, possibly since the First Unhuman War.[5]
Location[]
The location of Lionheart is a closely guarded secret, and the hidden base is moved every few years to avoid surprise attacks.[4] In the lead up to the Second Unhuman War, Lionheart was known to be in orbit above Garden in Realmspace.[7]
