Spelljammer Wiki

"Hurricane" Halvor was the owner of Hurricane Halvor's Spacedock in the Spelljammer campaign setting.[1]

Overview[]

"Hurricane" Halvor was a dwarven shipwright and the owner of a travelling Spacedock, which was situated on an apparently mobile asteroid. Halvor's nickname was given to him as a joke, since he was known to work very slowly. However, for triple his standard rate, he was willing to pull out all the stops, and once armor plated a dromond in 24 hours.

Halvor charged outrageously high fees, but he and his crew did good work, and often their clients had no other choice. Halvor would buy parts of ships, and even complete wrecks, no questions asked, and dealt in used weapons of all sorts. Halvor also fenced stolen, seized and salvaged goods and had available a selection of helms, locators, passage devices, star charts, second-hand ships, and whatever else a spacefarer may need. Occasionally the Arcane would show up and demand to purchase a particular item; Halvor was always wise enough not to argue, and so they left him alone.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Halvor was married to Thaerea, a human priestess of Ptah, who served as a healer and provided spiritual guidance to her local congregation.[2]

Employees[]

Halvor employed a crew of six energetic and highly skilled (and well-armed) gnomish craftsmen who carried out ship repairs. He also hired a mercenary adventuring group known as the "Shields" to provide protection for his establishment.[2]

Allies[]

Halvor had forged a close relationship with a group of Sarphardin who had established a nursery deep within the Spacedock's asteroid. Whenever the creatures grew leery of a particular locale, or if Halvor asked them to, the adult sarphardin would simply tow the asteroid somewhere else, supplemented by a hidden major helm crewed by the "Shields". The sarphardin willingly defended the Spacedock against attack since they were fond of Halvor, and not particularly keen on his clientele.[2]
