A Helot is a golem-like construct created by the reigar from the Spelljammer campaign setting.[1][2]
Overview[]
Helot's are golem-like constructs created by the reigar as servants and crew onboard their esthetics, as well as bodyguards and troops which fight in coordination with the lakshu.
Description[]
Helots can resemble any living organic creature, such as an animal or humanoid, depending on the preference of their creator. The helot will feature all aspects of the creature it is modelled on, including size and movement type. However, it will not have any of the creature's special powers or spell-like abilities.
Combat[]
Reigar prefer not to enter into combat personally, as their time is better spent in artistic pursuits (naturally), and if necessary will first deploy their helots. A helot will have the same modes of attack as the creature it is modelled on. As a construct, a helot is unaffected by sleep and charm spells.
Society[]
Helots are automatons, artificially created and under the direct control of their creator. They have no society and are not associated with any particular environment.
Signature Spelljammers[]
An esthetic may carry between 6 and 60 helots,[note 1] depending on the vessel's size.[2]
Appendix[]
Notes[]
- ↑ Each lakshu can call on up to three helots in battle, though this in no way suggest that these comprise the full complement of an esthetic.
