Erik, Old Father of the Forests, is the god of forests and hunting from the Cerilian pantheon.[1][3][2]

Overview[]

Erik is the guardian of the wilderness, the protector of the forest, and the patron of all animals. He does not oppose logging or hunting, but will allow no one to take more than they need or more than the land can bear. As a mortal, Erik was a Rjuven warrior serving in the entourage of the god Reynir, and inherited his power at the battle of Mount Deismaar over 1,500 years ago.[1][3]

Erik has one daughter with the sun goddess Avani, named Laerme, the goddess of fire, beauty and art.[4]

Description[]

Erik appears as an old man with wood-bark skin and a green mossy beard. Natural animals refuse to attack him.[1]

Holy Symbol[]

Erik's symbol is an oak tree.[1][2]

Favored Weapon[]

Erik does not wield a weapon, preferring to use the natural attacks of his preferred form.[1]

Realm[]

Erik maintains a realm known as Nature's Rest on the Concordant Domain of the Outlands.[5][6] Nature's Rest is a richly forestsed realm, where animals roam freely. The realm is filled with everlasting peace that seems to flow from the very rocks, such that none may lift their hand against another except by the intercession of Erik himself. No settlements mar the land, and no mortal-built structures break the tree line. Erik hold court in the open air, and all are welcome to attend regardless of alignment. Nature's Rest is a much sought-after sanctuary, though few find it.[2]

Worship[]

Erik's priesthood is made up druids who band together in organisations known as circles. Most Rjurik consider the druidic faith of Erik the only true faith, and as such druids are the most important priests in Rjurik dominated lands.[1]
