Belinik, the Prince of Terror, is the god of battle, feuds and fear from the Cerilian pantheon.[1][4][2]
Overview[]
Belinik personifies the Vos belief that might makes right; those who follow him believe that strength and savagery are all a true warrior needs. As a mortal, Belinik was the chosen champion of the god Azrai and the warrior-king who led the Vos into the War of Shadow. During the battle of Deismaar, Belinik inherited the bulk of Azrai's power, elevating the brutal tyrant to godhood over 1,500 years ago.[1][4]
Description[]
Belinik manifests as an armored warrior wielding an axe, or as a cave bear.[1]
Holy Symbol[]
Belinik's symbol is a pair of crossed axes.[1][2]
Favored Weapon[]
Belinik wields a battle axe of wounding and sharpness.[1]
Realm[]
Belinik maintains a realm, known as the Striving, on Cocytus, the second layer of the Windswept Depths of Pandemonium.[3][5] The Striving is a monstrous cavern of squalling winds and blustery snow. Wolves roam its wintry hills, and berserkers cut down those who stumble through the snow-covered paths. The realm of Belinik isn't safe for anyone and treachery is practically a byword.
At the center of the Striving is a great wooden palisade that surrounds Belinks longhall, where he and his boyars meet to feast and plan their next wave of terror. Dire wolves sleep by the fire, and a huge snow serpent slithers across the yard, devouring those who don't bear the stench of Belinik.[2]
Worship[]
Belinik is revered by all Vos warriors and his priesthood is highly regarded in Vosgaard. The priests of Belinik foment blood-feuds or even full scale wars between Vos clans in order to please their bloodthirsty god. Priests of Belinik may never back down from a fight, and must always prove that they are fit to serve by demonstrating their strength and bloodlust.[1]
