Avani, the Lady of Reason, is the goddess of the sun, reason and magic from the Cerilian pantheon.[1][3][2]
Overview[]
Avani, the lady of logic and clear thought, is the goddess of reason and the sun, and is the counterpart to the mysterious moon god Ruornil. Avani is married to Erik, god of nature, and together they have one daughter named Laerme, the goddess of fire, beauty and art.[4] Avani is the patroness of the Khinasi, who believe that the sun is Avani's golden palace and that it circles the world each day. As a mortal, Avani served in the entourage of the old goddess Basaïa, and inherited her power at the battle of Mount Deismaar over 1,500 years ago.[1][3]
Description[]
Avani manifests as a bright beam of sunlight or as a fire elemental. Those who look directly upon her may be permanently blinded by her radiance.[1]
Holy Symbol[]
Avani's symbol is the setting sun.[1][2]
Favored Weapon[]
None. Avani prefers using the natural attacks of her favored form.[1]
Realm[]
Avani maintains a realm known as the Gleaming Spire on the Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus.[5][6] Avani resides within a palace of clear crystal flame called the Gleaming Spire, which takes up both sides of an entire gear on Mechanus. As befits a realm of the clockwork plane, the light of the Gleaming Spire cycles through daylight and darkness on a precise schedule. Avani's realm is dedicated to quiet contemplation and study, although heated arguments do occasionally break out.[2]
Worship[]
Avani is widely worshipped by the Khinasi, and her priesthood is very important in Anuire. Avani's priests serve as sages, scholars and teachers, and a typical Avani temple resembles a university or library.[1]
